Our Degree Programs

We offer undergraduate majors and minors in French, Italian Studies, Linguistics, and Spanish, as well as a separate minor in Italian and an M.A. in French. All of our language programs, including our newest, Portuguese, offer the chance to study abroad through one of UVM's exchange partner universities. Learn more about our programs.

Meet Our Faculty

Our Department includes 37 instructors across our academic programs in French, Italian, Linguistics, Portuguese, and Spanish. In addition to the courses we teach in our own Department, many of us also collaborate closely with one or more of UVM's other academic programs intersecting our areas of specialization, including Global & Regional Studies, Women's & Gender Studies, and World Literature.
