Student Support

Student measuring flexibility

Clinical internships for P.T. students are possible at over 270 clinical sites throughout the U.S. including large academic health centers, rehabilitation centers, home health organizations and more.

The students in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science may seek help from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences' Office of Student Services for issues related to university, college and departmental policies and procedures. They are located in 002 Rowell. Visit Student Services on line.

Academic Advising

As an incoming student at UVM, you are assigned to a faculty advisor at the outset your academic career. Your advisor can be an invaluable source of information and due to the nature of the professional programs in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science, you will get to know your advisor very well.  Information about advising, academic policies, student services, etc. can be found in the Rehabilitation & Movement Science Student Manual.

When do you meet with your advisor?

You should meet with your advisor before registering for classes each semester. Additionally, you will want to meet with your advisor to discuss withdrawal from classes, progression within the curriculum, and taking a "leave of absence." As your time at UVM comes to a close and you start looking for career opportunities, your advisor can be helpful in discussing your professional ambitions and writing you letters of recommendation.

Scholarships and other Financial Assistance

Many undergraduate scholarships are awarded to College of Nursing and Health Sciences students. Most of these scholarships do not require an application because selection is based upon pre-determined criteria. For those scholarships with an application process, students will be notified via e-mail of scholarship availability and the steps to take. View a list of the scholarships offered through CNHS.

Discounted tuition may be available for Maine and New Hampshire residents. The New England Board of Higher Education provides a discount on out-of-state tuition to Maine and New Hampshire residents when they enroll in the University of Vermont Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  Visit the NEBHE website for details on eligibility. Candidates for this program must also complete the UVM Application for In-State Status (pdf) and indicate their intent to apply for the tuition break.
