2010-2011 Executive Board Elections
As the year draws closer to an end, it’s time to start thinking about who is going to continue improving the quality of life for students next year. Elections are an exciting time for the organization and we look for any and all students who are planning to live on campus, to get involved with our organization. We are looking for motivated student leaders, even those who haven’t established themselves yet, to continue leading the organization next year. Below you will find links to descriptions and duties of the various positions within the Executive Board as well as a timeline of events to help you prepare for the big day!
- President - As President, your main role is to advocate for the Organization and the on campus students through many meetings between Res Life, Dining Services, Student Life, and much more. The other half of the position focuses on facilitating Executive Board and General Body meetings, where you will be in charge of setting the agendas and ensuring topics are covered at each meeting. - Vice President and Treasurer - As Vice President and Treasurer, your main roles are to facilitate the internal growth of the organization through General Body development and Hall Council outreach as well as maintaining an up-to-date budget for the organization. At the end of each year it is also the job of the Vice President and Treasurer to set the budget for the following academic year. Click here to see a detailed outline of position duties.
- National Communications Coordinator - As the National Communications Coordinator (NCC), your main roles are to be the liaison between IRA from other Schools to our IRA as well as prepare delegations for two regional and one national conference. The conferences are FULL of spirit and cheers as well as a Boardroom full of NCCs from other schools that vote on regional and national business. - Director of Social Programming - At the Director of Social Programming, your main role is to “THINK big and GO big” with planning and executing social programs for people to attend on campus. You will be in charge of running our annual “WINGSFEST” as well as create new programs for large audiences. Another important part of the position requires working with the Social Programming committee on a weekly basis to develop, plan and execute social programs at least twice a semester. - Director of Community Service and Educational Programming - As the Director of Community Service and Educational Programming, your main roles are to create large and small scale programming that focuses around educating the resident population and to work on ways to incorporate community service into the on-campus life. Another important part of the position requires working with the Community Service and Educational Programming committee on a weekly basis through chairing meetings and planning events. - Director of Student Advocacy - As the Director of Student Advocacy, your main role is to evaluate the resident population, address key issues facing on-campus students through means of legislative action within the General Body, and identify areas of improvement around the Residence Halls. Another important part of the position requires working with the Student Advocacy committee on a weekly basis to identify, address, and solve on-campus student concerns. - Director of Public Relations - As the Director of Public Relations, your main role is to publicize and promote the organization and its events. Through promotion giveaways, T-shirt design, Facebook and Twitter updates, creating posters and flyers and much more, it is your responsibility to get the word out about the organization. Another important part of the position requires working with the Public Relations committee on a weekly basis to help design and distribute organizational content. Elections Timeline
- February 26th – Letter of Intent due
- A letter of intent is simply an email to one of the IRA Advisors containing a message to the extent of, “I would like to run for “insert position here”. You can send your letter of intent to one of the email addresses listed below:
- March 5th – Platform Due
- For each position on the Executive Board there will be a platform for candidate to respond to. These platforms will be posted to the IRA Website for residents to view before and during the online voting period. If you would like to attach a photo with your electronic platform, that photo will be placed next to your name and platform. Refer to the attached Word Documents:

- March 22nd to March 24th – Online Elections
- A campus wide email will be sent out with online voting instruction as the time nears.
