Community families, couples or individuals are matched with UVM international students and or families with children in the Essex Town School District grades K-12 who are new to the state, according to common interests. The community host(s) does not provide housing. They agree to meet with the new student or family once per month for activities such as a home-cooked meal, birthday parties, holiday celebrations, leaf peeping, snow activities, hiking and movies in order to help them become acclimated to Vermont and/or the USA. Community members and international students or new families will build friendships while sharing and experiencing each other's culture.
