Each semester, we hire a few students to work in the Recycling Program. Students must be eligible for UVM Federal Work Study Program to be considered. (Refer to JOB ID #'s in Student Employment Office).

Techno Trash Recycling Coordinator - Job ID 621

Coordinate techno trash and electronic waste recycling program. Collect batteries, light bulbs and small electronic waste for recycling. Drive a University vehicle. Monitor collection sites, empty bins, weigh and document items collected. Maintain data and spreadsheet. Assist with other light duties for Recycling Program as needed, for example, delivering recycle boxes to campus locations, and replacing decals on bins.
Qualifications: Must be 19 years old to drive a University vehicle. Valid drivers license and clean driving record. If hired, must attend and pass UVM driver safety training. Must be able to perform light physical labor such as rolling a hand cart and lifting heavy boxes. Experience with Excel spreadsheets. And interest in recycling and environmental issues a plus.

Compost Collection Crew Driver - Job ID 1407

Coordinate collection of food waste and organics from residence halls for composting. Collect and empty carts and pails, transport food waste to composting drop-off area, wash out carts and pails. Drive a University vehicle. Monitor collection sites, weigh and record data on spreadsheet. Help promote composting program in residence halls. Assist with other duties for Recycling Program as needed, for example, delivering compost bags to campus locations.
Qualifications: Must be 19 years old to drive a University vehicle. Valid drivers license and good driving record. If hired, must attend and pass UVM driver safety training. Must be able to perform physical labor such as rolling a hand cart and lifting heavy pails. May be subject to unpleasant odors and grime. Must be willing to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. An interest in recycling, composting and environmental issues a plus.

Compost Collection Crew - Biker - Job ID 4187

Use a bicycle with a pull behind trailer to collect food waste and organics from university academic buildings. Collect bags and pails on a regular basis, transport food waste to drop-off area. Weigh and record data on spreadsheet. Help promote composting program.. Assist with other duties for Recycling Program for example delivering boxes, picking up techno trash, and auditing recycle bins.
Qualifications: Must be physically able to operate a bicycle while pulling a bike trailer weighing up to 200 pounds. Must be able to perform physical labor such as lifting heavy pails and bags, climbing stairs and pedestrian travel. May be subject to unpleasant odors and grime. Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. An interest in bicycle advocacy and environmental issues a plus.
