Strong Cat Competition

The Strong Cat Competition is designed to be a fun and supportive yet competitive environment where participants are encouraged to celebrate the successes of their fellow competitors!  The divisions are geared to allow for maximum participation against individuals who will make it competitive for you.

Date: Friday, April 26th
Event Time: Check In & Warm Up: 4:30pm-5:00pm – Competition Starts at 5:00pm
Location: Varsity Strength and Conditioning Center - Patrick Gym

  • All registered participants through April 25th will receive a free T-shirt!

Recreation Division Events*: Male and Female

  • Sled Push:
    • Requirement: Push 70 pounds on a sled for a total of 60 yards.
    • Competition Format: Timed event - fastest time wins
  • Chin up:
    • Requirement: Must be able to perform at least 1 Chin up (knuckles towards your head) with assistance from an orange stretch band.
    • Competition Format: Complete as many chin up's as you can until you are unable to continue or release from the bar. Highest number of completed chin up's wins
    • Dead hang chin up's only. No "kipping" or "butterfly kicks" allowed!
  • Bench Press:
    • Requirement: Must be able to bench press 50% of your body weight at least once.
    • Competition Format: Complete as many bench presses as you can until you are unable to continue. Highest number of completed bench presses wins
  • 300 Yard Shuttle:
    • Requirements: Run 6 - 25 yard long segments without stopping.
    • Competition Format: Timed event - fastest time wins

    *Division Disclaimer: Please note, if you are able to do 2 or more of the Advanced Division requirements (see below) then you must register for the Advanced Division. Campus Recreation reserves the right to move individuals to another division to promote fair competition.

Advanced Division Events: Male and Female

  • Sled Push:
    • Requirement: Push 100 pounds on a sled for a total of 60 yards.
    • Competition Format: Timed event - fastest time wins
  • Pull Up:
    • Requirement: Must be able to perform at least 1 body weight pull up.
    • Competition Format: Complete as many chin up's as you can until you are unable to continue or release from the bar. Highest number of completed chin up's wins
    • Dead hang pull up's only. No "kipping" or "butterfly kicks" allowed!
  • Bench Press:
    • Must be able to bench press your body weight at least once.
    • Competition Format: Complete as many bench presses as you can until you are unable to continue. Highest number of completed bench presses wins
  • 300 yard Shuttle
    • Same for all levels, run 300 yards without stopping.
    • Competition Format: Timed event - fastest time wins

Award:

  • Awards will be given in each division for both the individual events and the overall competition.
    • The overall champion in each division will be determined by points awarded depending on your place in each individual event. The competitor with the fewest points after all 4 events wins!
      • i.e., If there are 10 competitors in Women's Recreation the person who completes the shuttle run the fastest = 1pt, 2nd fastest = 2pts...... 10th fastest = 10pts.
