PEAC 056: Badminton 1-2

Fee: $50

Beginning Badminton - This class will cover the beginning skills and knowledge of badminton with emphasis on: learning and improving one's ability to perform badminton strokes and understand strategy; vigorous participation in all class exercises; and developing a sense of rhythm and balance in executing shots. No prior experience is necessary.

Intermediate Badminton - This class will cover intermediate level skills and knowledge of badminton with emphasis on: learning new concepts in badminton stroke production and strategy design; vigorous participation in all class exercises; planning for individual improvement; and participation in class tournaments. Students should have prior experience in racquet sports.

PEAC 079: Racquetball 1-2/Racquetball 1-4

Beginning Racquetball - This class will cover the beginning skills and knowledge of racquetball with emphasis on: learning and improving one's ability to perform racquetball strokes and understand strategy; vigorous participation in all class exercises; and developing a sense of rhythm and balance in executing shots. Intermediate Racquetball - This class will cover intermediate level skills and knowledge of racquetball with emphasis on: learning new concepts in racquetball stroke production and strategy design; vigorous participation in all class exercises; planning for individual improvement; and participation in class tournaments. Students should have prior experience in racquet sports.

PEAC 092: Squash 1-4

Fee: $50

Beginning Squash - This class will concentrate on learning all the basics of squash. The focus will include learning the major shots, the rules and positioning in the court. Students will play and concentrate on soft ball squash and also have an overview of hard ball squash. By completion of the class, the student will be able to play the game of squash and have a class tournament.

PEAC 096: Tennis 1-2

Fee: $50

Beginning Tennis - This class will concentrate on learning all the basics of tennis. The focus will include learning the 6 major strokes, the rules and positioning for both singles and doubles. By completion of the class, the student will be able to play the game of tennis.

PEAC 098: Tennis 3-4

Fee: $50

Intermediate Tennis - This class will review the major strokes of tennis. Early in the semester we will be adding spins to people's games as well as trying to correct any bad habits. We will incorporate fun drills and games to work on these areas. The middle part of the semester will stress strategies and stroke production to add to the competitive side of the game. The end of the class culminates in a class tournament.

PEAC 100: Tennis 5-6

Fee: $50

Advanced Tennis - This class is for people who already know how to play the game. The focus is more on the mental aspect of people's games although there is a heavy concentration on the serve. This class learns a drill or specific strategy on Mondays and incorporates this into a playing situation on Wednesdays. There is typically lots of competition in this class.

PEAC 102: Tennis Doubles 3-4

Instructor: Muff Parsons-Reinhardt
Semesters Offered: Fall Only
Fee: $50

A student should be of at least low-intermediate ability to take this class. Doubles has many different strategies and positioning. Students will learn those strategies and adapt them to be able to work with a handful of teammates in order to build a sense of team communication.

PEAC 117: Racquetball 5-6

Advanced Racquetball - This class is designed for advanced level players and will include: exploration of the competitive elements of racquetball play; vigorous participation in all class activities; analysis of individual playing style; exploration of new patterns of play; and participation in class tournaments. Additionally, students will learn the basics of racquetball officiating and referee class matches.

PEAC 199: Platform Tennis

Fee: $50

Platform tennis, or “paddle” as it is known to those who play regularly, is a fantastic way to utilize the beautiful outdoor winter days of Vermont with a racket in hand. The paddle class will be offered the first part of the winter semester. Paddle is played outside on a raised miniature tennis court that has 4 screened walls surrounding it. The class will cover the basic strokes of platform tennis, strategies and rules. If you like racket sports, winter, and being warm outside this is the class for you. This class is held off-campus; students will be required to sign a transportation waiver and provide their own transportation. Please see the special instructions page for more information.

PEAC 199: Platform & Indoor Tennis 1-2/Platform & Indoor Tennis 3-4

Fee: $50

Platform tennis, or “paddle” as it is known to those who play regularly, is a fantastic way to utilize the beautiful outdoor winter days of Vermont with a racket in hand. The paddle class will be offered the first part of the winter semester. Paddle is played outside on a raised miniature tennis court that has 4 screened walls surrounding it. The class will cover the basic strokes of platform tennis, strategies and rules. During the second half of the semester, students will return to the PFG indoor tennis courts to continue developing their tennis skills. This first half of the semester this class is held off-campus; students will be required to sign a transportation waiver and provide their own transportation.
