Intramural Sports Official

Intramural Sports Officials are responsible for providing an atmosphere of fun in a competitive, yet safe, environment. Officials must be able to implement Intramural Sports policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness, and safety. They should maintain a positive attitude on-site and should always be striving to improve their officiating skills.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of sports, rules, and intramural sports policies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous officiating experience
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Knowledge and experience with multiple sports (playing or officiating)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflict

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Officiate Intramural Sports contests
  • Assist with pre and post-game set-up/tear-down and inspection of game sites
  • Understand emergency/evacuation procedures
  • Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times
  • Provide scorekeepers with information about each game to determine sportsmanship ratings
  • Check email daily

Intramural Sports Scorekeeper & Office Assistant 

Intramural Scorekeepers & Office Assistants are to assist with the Intramural Sports Program in general.  As a scorekeeper their main duty is to make sure each night of intramural sports is run smoothly through check in and score keeping of each contest.  As an Office Assistant, the main function is to assist in conducting all operations that occur in the Intramural Sports Office. 

Requirements

  • Must have federal work-study award
  • Have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong communication skills
  • Be team oriented
  • Have a willingness to learn about sports they are scorekeeping 
  • Provide quality customer service to the campus community and guests
  • Possess good organization skills and be detail oriented

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre and post-game set-up/tear-down and inspection of game sites
  • Keep an accurate scores and stats for each contest
  • Work with officials to rate sportsmanship for each contest and record conduct issues
  • Assist with difficult situations or altercations that may occur during games 
  • Enter nightly score and stats into Intramural Sports software
  • Preparing game management materials under the direction of the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports
  • Answer the phone or talk to people seeking information in person about activities using good customer service skills
  • Promote participation in our activities through positive attitude and behavior
  • Assist in promoting good public relations by being courteous, friendly, and informative
  • Check e‐mail daily
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Intramural Sports Supervisor

The Intramural Sports Supervisor reports to the Intramural Sports Coordinator and ultimately to the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports.  Serving as the on-site supervisor for a designated sport per shift and as the leader of a group of workers on that shift, the group is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive game management service for all Intramural Sports related events; such as Intramural Sport Programs.  The Intramural Sports Supervisor is responsible for field preparations, event set-ups, concurrent event management, and event take-down.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one semesters experience as an Intramural Sport employee
  • Obtain and Maintain a current CPR/AED/First Aid certification while employed
  • Ability to delegate and supervise peers
  • Must possess good organization skills and be detail oriented
  • Be a positive role model at work and maintain a good attitude
  • Experience working in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Awareness of safety concerns and risk management, available through training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, and participate in the set-up, and take-down of intramural sports and special events programming
  • Serve as the onsite supervisor for all intramural sports and special events programmed through Intramural Sports
  • Track and record employees hours
  • Educate intramural participants and captains on expectations for intramural sports programming
  • Respond to risk management/emergency situations
  • Complete daily shift reports
  • Prepare all necessary site materials and venues for efficient, safe, and service oriented competitions
  • Attend weekly supervisor meetings and required trainings
  • Complete and submit incident/injury report forms with appropriate documentation in timely manner
  • Ability to give constructive feedback/evaluation to intramural sport officials and scorekeepers
  • Provide good customer service to all Campus Recreation patrons
  • Officiate and/or score keep when scheduled or needed
  • Assist with Intramural Sports trainings
  • Check email daily
