Stage and Discharge Monitoring
Monitoring stations were constructed at the two sites identified above (upper station - T7SW1) and below (lower station - T7SW2) the study neighborhoods in May 2004. The first step was to construct a concrete tiled cross-sectional control area to line the stream bottom at each site.
Next, an ISCO model 6712C automatic wastewater sampler was installed at each site adjacent to the stream. Each ISCO unit was equipped with a pressure transducer (to monitoring stage height at 5-minute intervals and to trigger sampling), which was mounted to the level base of the cross- sectional control area.
Stage height has been related to discharge by a rating curves developed pursuant to standard USGS stream profiling protocols (http://water.usgs.gov/pubs/twri/, Book 3, Section A, Chapters A6-A8 and A10). In addition, a rain gauge was installed at the upper monitoring station to monitor frequency and intensity of rainfall.
