Mr. Barton Kirk

Researcher

 

Barton Kirk is a University of Vermont graduate student studying ecological economics, design, and planning in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. His work is focused on assessing the sustainability of community water resource systems and stakeholder-involved decision making. He will be engaging community members, South Burlington city officials, and other memebers of the RAN project in a series of stakeholder meetings to develop appropriate stormwater management scenarios for the Oak Creek and Butler Farm communities.

Barton holds a B.S. in agricultural and biological engineering from Penn State University and has worked as an ecological engineer and researcher for Ocean Arks International of Burlington, VT, designing innovative wastewater treatment and waste recovery systems for small communities. Recently, he co-authored a report to the USEPA and National Decentralized Water Resources Capacity Development Project investigating methods for assessing and comparing the sustainability of wastewater treatment systems.
