Summer 2000 Voice and Data Networking Projects

• Admissions: 178 + 194 So. Prospect - Completely rewired, added as a Gigabit uplink to the backbone.
  
• 590 Main - Rewired and added as a Gigabit uplink to the backbone,Wireless access point also installed.
  
• Innovation Center - Installed Remote phone switch, provided Data services, at 10 Mb back to campus.
  
• Installed remote Phone switch for 5 Trinity Dorms, this provides UVM 911 response and UVM Dial tone.
  
• Psychiatry move to Trinity, remote services over gigabit link back to UVM. Remote phone services.
  
• Rowell 2nd floor - Renovations, rewiring, new closet.
  
• Rowell 1st floor - Renovations, rewiring for School of Nursing
  
• 4th Floor Williams - Art Lab wired and at 100 Mb.
  
• 2nd Floor Lafayette - Addition to Geography Lab.
  
• Akamai Servers - UP and running
  
• Wireless VPN installed and running
  
• Campus Firewall - Installed and conversion continuing.
  
• Single Mode fiber backbone finished for Res Life Halls.
  
• Design/Implement Highspeed Gigabit backbone upgrade for Residence Halls. Res Halls completed are:
  Harris, Millis, Marsh, Austin, Tupper, Wing, Davis, Wilks, Mason, Simpson, Hamilton, Redstone, Slade, Jeane Mance, L/L Commons, L/L A
  
• Administrative Work Orders - approx 400 since Jan 02
  
• Backbone Upgrade, Still in progress, goals increased switching capacity and greater redundancy.
  
• Off campus access by use of a VPN through the existing firewall to provide security, and verification.
  
• Continuing Ed Wireless installation.
