Special Sites of Interest for Radiation Safety


1) The Nuclear Regulatory Commission

UVM has a broad scope non-human application license issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The license requires UVM to follow regulations which are found in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). A majority of the radiation safety rules come from Part 20 (10CFR20) titled, "Standards For Protection Against Radiation".

2) The Food and Drug Administration

The Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiologic Health ensures safety of medical radiation devices and unnecessary human exposure to those devices.

3) The Radiation Information Network

The Radiation Information Network is an excellent resource for further information on many subjects relating to radiation and its uses.

4) Health Physics Society - Specialists in Radiation Safety

The Health Physics Society is a professional organization dedicated to the development, dissemination, and application of both the scientific knowledge of, and the practical means for, radiation protection.

5) UVM Safety Information Page

The University of Vermont Safety Information Page contains safety policy and practical information about working safely at UVM.
