Meet the RSO Staff: An Interview with Ron Kimball
Ron was born in Burlington and is
currently a Radiation Safety Technician, having been with the Radiation
Safety Office since 1991. Prior to that, he worked for a local
architectural and drafting firm. He has an Associate in Applied Science
Degree from Vermont Technical College. His primary responsibilities
include : radiation safety training for all new certified users,
laboratory inspections, annual reports, commissioning and
decommissioning of laboratories, data record keeping and analysis,
consultation with UVM personnel, and coordination with other UVM
departments. Since Ron has been at UVM, he has continued his
education.. He has taken courses in radiation physics, nuclear
medicine, statistics, and business administration.
In his spare time, Ron likes to participate in sports activities. His interests include golf, ice hockey, and softball. Ron is a member at the Cedar Knoll Country Golf Club. Artistic pursuits include playing the guitar and piano. Home improvement also fills much of his spare time.
He said, "Challenging and rewarding work at the RSO along with an enjoyable interaction with the whole UVM community have made my time at UVM a truly pleasurable experience."
