The Human Behavioral Pharmacology Subprogram

Facilities

  • The Human Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory (main): This facility of 5743 sq. ft., is located adjacent to the University of Vermont (UVM) campus in Burlington and is the site for laboratory research on the reinforcing effects of drugs, and dependence and withdrawal. We also have onsite, state-of-the-art urine toxicology testing equipment and access to a new neuroimaging research facility at the University hospital. Laboratories are controlled by networked microcomputers.
  • Substance Abuse Treatment Center (SATC): This facility of 2,900 sq. ft., is also located adjacent to the UVM campus, and is our site for the development and testing of scientifically-based behavioral treatments for cocaine dependence and new pharmacological and behavioral treatments for opioid dependence.
  • The Chittenden Center provides methadone maintenance therapy for those with opioid dependence. The program provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment for our patients. The clinic offers wrap-around services that include methadone maintenance therapy, individual and group therapy sessions, and medical consultation/dose adjustments as needed.
