(ECAG)
This minor is designed to give
students a knowledge-based concentration in diversified crop production based on
ecological principles and is economically viable, socially acceptable, and
minimizes impacts to the environment. A minimum of fifteen credit hours including PSS 021 and PSS
212; CDAE 002, ENVS
002 or
NFS 095; plus two courses from any of the following: ASCI 110, ASCI 122, PSS 106,
PSS 112, PBIO/PSS 117, PSS 124, PSS 143 or ASCI 143, PSS 154, PSS 156, PSS 161, PSS 162,
PSS 268, CDAE 208 or ASCI 230, or appropriate PSS
special topics (as approved by the PSS Undergraduate Affairs committee).

This interdisciplinary minor in Food Systems gives students the knowledge and skills necessary to understand our complex interdependent food system of food production, processing, distribution and consumption. A minimum of eighteen credit hours, at least nine credits from the following: PSS 021, NFS 073 (honors section also available), PBIO 006, CDAE 002; and at least nine credits from the following: NFS 185 (lecture and lab), NSF 153, ASCI 122, CDAE 128, PSS 154, PSS 156, ENVS 183, CDAE 208/ASCI 230 or appropriate ASCI/NFS/CDAE/PSS 195 special topics (as approved by the PSS Undergraduate Affairs committee. This minor is designed to give students a knowledge-based concentration in soil science that will be recognized by those looking to hire agricultural and natural resource professionals with soil science prominent in their program of study. A minimum of seventeen credit hours, including PSS 161 and four other courses from the following: PSS 162, PSS 261, PSS 264, PSS 268 or PSS 269. Contact person: Donald.Ross@uvm.edu.
Minor in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture
(SLH)
This minor is designed to provide students with a knowledge-based concentration in horticulture based on the application of ecological principles in landscape design and plant sciences. A minimum of fifteen credit hours, including PSS 010, PSS 123, PSS 125 and PSS 137, plus one 100 level course from the following: PSS 106, PSS 112, PSS 117, PSS 138, PSS 145, PSS 156, PSS 161, PSS 238 or appropriate PSS special topics (as approved by the PSS Undergraduate Affairs committee).
