Phi Beta Kappa May 2013 Induction Ceremony
Saturday, 18 May at 9:15 am in the Royall Tyler Theatre
The induction ceremony is open to all members of the UVM community and the guests of our initiates. We would be delighted to have you join us in celebrating the outstanding academic accomplishments of our initiates.
The ceremony will begin at 9:15 am. Inductees are asked to arrive at the Royall Tyler Theatre by 9:00 am, and faculty who are assisting with the ceremony should be there by 8:50.
A reception will follow the ceremony. All of the morning’s activities should be concluded by approximately 10:30 am.
Attire. For May graduates, academic regalia should be worn. Tassels go on the right before one graduates. For initiates who are not May graduates, comparable attire, such as jackets and ties, dresses, or skirts and blouses, is best.
Location & Parking. The Royall Tyler Theatre is located on South Prospect Street. Please consult the UVM Commencement website for information about parking that weekend.
Accessibility. The Royall Tyler Theatre is accessible. If you need additional acoomodations, including ASL interpreting, please contact Prof. Nicole Phelps at email@example.com at your earliest convenience so we can get things in place.
Photography. Guests are more than welcome to take pictures at the ceremony and to come forward to take closer shots when their student is receiving his or her key, etc.
Key Presentation. Family members or professors who are themselves members of Phi Beta Kappa may present the key to “their” student. Please come forward at the appropriate time in the ceremony (which should be made clear during the ceremony). If you are planning on doing this, it would be nice for the chapter president to know about it in advance so it can be most effectively integrated into the ceremony.
