Credit by Exam
Credit by Examination Policies
- Students must sign up for Credit by Examination PRIOR
to taking the examination. The Credit by Exam sign-up period begins on
the first day of classes each semester. Students may sign-up for Credit by
Exam in the Fitness Center in Gutterson.
- Examinations will be scheduled so they occur during the month of October in fall semester, and February in spring semester.
- Instructors will NOT test students individually past the end of October in fall semester, and the end of February in spring semester.
- There is only one credit by exam for each activity in the physical education department, even though some of our physical education activity classes have different skill level designations for the same activity. The requirements for each credit by exam offered in our department are set for the intermediate level of the activity they apply to. For example, we offer courses in racquetball 1-2 (beginner), racquetball 3-4 (intermediate) and racquetball 5-6 (advanced). Beside the credit by exam for the intermediate level of racquetball, no other credit by exam for racquetball exists.
- A student may only take one credit by exam in each activity.
- A student may not take a credit by exam in an activity in which he/she has PREVIOUSLY received credit at any level. For example, if a student received credit for racquetball 1-2, they would not be able to take credit by exam in racquetball, even though the credit by exam is at the intermediate level.
- Credit by exam may only be taken in activities in which courses are offered by the Physical Education Activities Department (PEAC).
- If a student fails a Credit by Exam, he/she will NOT be allowed to RETEST in the same activity. It will be considered a failure, but it will not be recorded on the student's transcript.
- To find out the requirements for each credit by exam offered, select the exam you are interested in from the list below.
- No Credit by Exam in any activity will be administered between May
15th and September 1st of any year. This policy exists because there are
no instructors available during the summer to administer the exams. There
will be no exceptions to this policy.
