Being vegan (or thereabouts)—bring on the plants:

An excellent site to explore is Vegan Outreach, especially the online version of their Why Vegan? brochure. It's not an easy read. For the more bluntly put reasons for such behaviour, try peta and the links therein. And this from a quarter unexpected: a mad cowboy. There is a good helping of misinformation, dogma, and I-want-my-crazy-belief-system floating around so for reasons against or at least a source of a balancing voice, Beyond Vegetarianism is a good place to start. The main thing is to find out, think, observe, consider.
