About Us

Building on Management Intensive Grazing (MIG) techniques studied and developed under the leadership of Dr. Bill Murphy, now retired from UVM's Plant & Soil Science Department, the Vermont Pasture Network (VPN) seeks to share tips, techniques and information about grazing all types of livestock successfully.

Vermont Pasture Network is a collaborative effort involving multiple organizations.  The UVM Center for Sustainable Agriculture's Pasture Program provides staffing for the collective effort, Vermont Grass Farmer's Association provides direction and vision, and USDA-NRCS provides funding as well as measuring our success.  The Pasture Program also pursues grant-funded projects through state and federal sources, as well as philanthropic support.

Today, the Pasture Program team continue to work closely with historic partners and new ones to improve and expand the success of grass-based livestock farms throughout VT and the northeast.
