Grant Seeking Databases and Links
The following links will allow you to access a variety of tools that will assist you in your search for external funding. The first group of tools includes searchable databases. These databases contain thousands of federal and non-federal funding opportunities including fellowships, post-doctoral opportunities, development and educational curriculum projects, sabbatical and publication support, equipment and travel money and much more. The second group of tools includes links to the sites of sponsoring agencies and organizations as well as sites, which document many of the federal grant announcements.
Databases
SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network)
SPIN contains thousands of opportunities from 2,500 different sponsoring agencies. It is comprehensive in its subject coverage and includes both federal and non-federal sponsors. SPIN has a matching alert service called SMARTS (SPIN Matching Alert and Research Transmittal Service) and a faculty profile database call GENIUS (Global Expertise Network for Industry and University and Scholars). COS (Community of Science) Funding Information
COS Funding Information includes over 22,000 grant opportunities from around the world. COS is comprehensive in its subject coverage and is especially recommended when searching for graduate student funding opportunities. COS is restricted to the UVM community. Vermont Directory of Foundations Online
Previously published by Christine Graham in paper
format, this directory is now is available as a free, searchable database and is
currently sponsored by the Foundation Center in partnership with the Vermont
Community Foundation. This online directory gives information about
foundations within Vermont and from out-of-state who give to Vermont causes.
It can be searched by various criteria including keywords and fields of
interest.
GrantsNet is a joint venture between the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). GrantsNet features federal and non-federal opportunities for support in the areas of biomedical sciences and undergraduate science education. GrantsNet is available to anyone for free.
