The University of Vermont

Office of Sponsored Programs

Welcome to the web site of the Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Vermont.

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is the University of Vermont's research administration office.  Its mission is to provide excellent administrative support to faculty in their pursuit of funding for research and scholarly activity while ensuring compliance with federal, university and private sponsor regulations, terms and conditions.

Government regulations, funding sources, and methods by which proposals are submitted are all undergoing rapid change.  OSP operates in a dynamic environment and serves as the coordination point for all university grant proposals and research protocols.

Pre-Award Services staff members help to identify funding sources, assist in the preparation of proposal budget details, facilitate the administrative review and approval process, and review and negotiate contracts and agreements.  Our Research Protections Office administers the University's human subjects protection program, the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
