Office of Institutional Research Staff

The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) gathers, analyzes, interprets, and reports various student, faculty, staff, and curricular information in support of budget, management, planning, and policy activities at the institutional level (the Board of Trustees, President, Senior Vice President and Provost, and other vice presidents/provosts); publishes various routine reports; provides official institutional data and statistics to meet various institutional reporting requirements; conducts institutional studies and analyses; and responds to special requests for data and analyses from the broader university community and others as time and resources allow.


UVM Source Book

Serve as the source of the University’s official enrollment, faculty and staff census, student, and course/curricular data, focused particularly on those data required to meet externally mandated reporting requirements

Provide the University administration with reliable and valid data, information, and analyses for institutional strategic planning, management, and decision-making

Develop and maintain University data files for historical, analytical, research, and projection activities (admissions, enrollment, retention and completion rates), faculty and staff, salaries, alumni survey and student survey research (such as NSSE)

Respond in a timely and accurate fashion to internal and external data requests as time and resources allow

Be a resource for strategic thinking and knowledge regarding higher education issues and trends

Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness
