It can also be a lot of work deciding where to go, lining up proper paperwork/documentation and ensuring that you receive academic credit for your studies. Let us help you get started. Consider the following general timeline
6-12 months before studying abroad:
- Apply for a U.S. passport
- Obtain academic advising
- Obtain financial aid advising from UVM Student Financial Services (SFS)
- Attend study abroad advising sessions
- Research study abroad programs
- Meet with a regional study abroad advisor
- Draft your budget sheet
5-9 months before studying abroad:
- Apply to study abroad program
- Research the visa requirements
- Verify your health insurance coverage
- Receive an offer or apply to another program
After acceptance into a study abroad program:
- Accept your offer to participate
- Request, pick up and complete and your Study Abroad Approval Form (SAAF)
- Complete your budget sheet
- Apply for your visa
- Enroll in the Overseas Study Program academic course (OSSP)
- Attend a UVM pre-departure orientation
- Go away and have a great experience!
