*International Education Week* is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of
international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S.
Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to
promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future
leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. Learn

5 p.m. to 7 p.m. — WHY STUDY ABROAD? Student Panel. Hear from fellow UVM students why they chose to study abroad and what they learned. ALANA Student Center, 5-7 p.m. Refreshments provided. Co-sponsored by the ALANA Student Center and the Office of International Education. Information: 656-4296.

7 p.m. to 8 p.m. — RUSSIAN HOUSE LECTURE: "Fun with Russian Songs II" as presented by
Tanya Sherman, Megan Luttrell, and Charlie Ruegger. All Russian majors recently returned
from St. Petersburg University and Yaroslavl University. Living/Learning Room 216.

7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. — KIRIKOU ET LA SORCIERE: Global Village and Nadege Dufort,
Henderson Fellow in Romance Languages, will lead a film and discussion on Kirikou et la
sorciere" (Kirikou and the sorceress). Film Plot: Loosely based on a West African folk
take, this film tells of how a newborn boy saves his village by ridding them of the evil
witch Karaba. Living/Learning Fireplace Lounge. Sponsored by Global Village.

This is a mandatory meeting for students studying abroad for the winter break, spring semester and calendar year.  This includes students participating on UVM’s Buckham program and Wisdom Tours winter program.  Students participating on UVM Faculty-led programs do not need to attend.
