Traditionally, the Next Step retreat is
held on the weekend after the first week of classes in
January.
Starting on a Friday afternoon, the retreat is a full weekend of
content, ending around lunchtime on a Sunday. See the Timeline
or Schedule
page for information on the next retreat.
Held
at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, VT the retreat site is on the
shores of beautiful Lake Morey, providing both rustic charm and modern
amenities. Participants and facilitators stay in cabins and use the
expansive resources of the Outdoor Center for large and small group
sessions and outdoor activities.
Participants and facilitators
are asked to bring a sleeping bag or blankets, clothes, a towel, and
all other items one might need for a weekend away. Meals,
snacks,
and retreat materials are provided.
The retreat is open to all
members of the UVM community: undergraduate and graduate students,
staff and faculty. Up to 65 participants may attend the
retreat
and can apply from this website under forms.
The facilitation
team is made up of UVM staff, faculty and former Next Step
participants. Facilitators work in pairs and work with one of
eight small groups throughout the weekend.
Once facilitators and
participants are selected for the retreat, further training,
pre-retreat meetings, and more information is provided.
