The Next Step Retreat is heavily supported by the work of a
team of
16 facilitators who work in teams of two to lead small groups of
participants through the retreat experience. The facilitator
team
is comprised of students, faculty and staff with a variety of
experiences, identities, and training skills. Selected each
October, facilitators are expected to participate in prep meetings and
trainings leading up to the retreat.
This page acts as a
communication tool between the Advisory Committee, logistics team and
the facilitators. More information will be posted throughout
the
fall.

De-Brief
It is mandatory that ALL facilitators attend the retreat
from beginning to end ( January 22-24, 2010).
Arrive early to set up, stay throughout the weekend, and
help clean up after.
Help coordinate and lead some large group activities.
Co-facilitate small group discussions during weekend
retreat & during follow-up meetings.
Don't take over the process from the participants.
Allow the participants to learn from each other.
Do “your own work” elsewhere – this time is for the
participants.
Work in partnership with your co-facilitator.
Make an effort to reach out to all participants
throughout the retreat weekend.
It is highly encouraged that ALL facilitators attend
& connect with your small group after the retreat (in
February, March,
and April) to maintain contact and encourage further work.
It is expected that facilitators will:
remain mentally and emotionally engaged throughout the
planning, retreat, follow-up meetings, and other program elements.
Have a willingness to be open to discussion and learning
from everyone involved.
