This service is free to all UVM faculty, students and staff, but it is strongly encouraged that you call or register first, as space can fill up quickly! The website also includes basic background to mindfulness practice & exercises you can practice on your own. ![]() UVM Police Services While addressing situations before they get out of hand is the best way to handle mental illness, sometimes, due to various conditions or stresses, a student may feel that they are beyond help. If a student talks about committing suicide, starts giving away prized possessions or other indications that they are planning to harm themselves, contact the counseling center right away! If the student is aggressive, hostile, unmanageable or is dangerously close to harming themselves, call Police Services (911 or 656-3473). This should be used as a last resort, as it circumvents more permanent treatment and the student will very likely be subject to disciplinary action. For more instructions on how to recognize threatening behavior and what you can do to help, go to the emergency information page. | UVM Police Services 284 East Avenue Burlington, VT 05405-3401 Emergency: 9-1-1 (on campus) Headquarters: (802) 656-3473 Fax: (802) 656-8077 Administrative: (802) 656-2027 http://www.uvm.edu/police/ |
