Ray Vega Visits Australia
UVM Music Department faculty member Ray
Vega recently spent a week as 'Artist in Residence' at the Elder
Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide in Australia. Ray
coached small ensembles each morning, gave workshops in brass, jazz
brass, improvisation, worked with their big bands, and participated in
a number of concerts, including a performance of 'Sketches of
Spain', with Gil Evan's music as a general 'framework' and he was
featured soloing over Latin charts.
Dusty Cox, Jazz Saxophone
Lecturer reported that “Ray was received with tremendous gratitude . .
. we are always in need of 'inspiration', and Ray gave us
all that, and much more.”
