Department of Music and Dance
University Percussion Ensemble
The University of Vermont Percussion Ensemble was founded in 1983 to introduce students to both the standard literature and the improvisational tradition of percussion instruments. Percussion Ensemble is open to students of all majors and community members as needed. Emphasis is placed on the art of ensemble playing: listening and responding to ideas of balance, accompaniment, etc. The ensemble presents at least two concerts per year, and occasionally performs off-campus at public schools, colleges, and professional meetings. The repertoire is chosen from the standard literature as well as improvisatory tradition of percussion music.
