Email: Robert WignessRobert Wigness studied trombone, music theory, literature and composition at Morningside College, Boston University, the University of Iowa and Columbia University. He holds the BME, MM and DMA degrees. He has taught at Coe College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Montclair State University and the University of Vermont. He is currently professor emeritus at the University of Vermont and Affiliate Artist. Robert was principal trombonist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra for 30 years, and trombonist with the Vermont Brass Quintet and the Vermont Brass Trio. He was also trombonist with the Composers Conference Chamber Orchestra for 35 years. He has recorded on the CRI label, and has been a guest conductor at music festivals as well as a guest clinician of trombone and electronic music throughout Vermont and New England. His compositions include solo works for violin, trombone, bass clarinet and tuba, and a “Concertino for Solo Trumpet, Trombone and Orchestra.” These works have been performed in Burlington, Woodstock, Middlebury and Rutland, Vermont and in Ithaca, North East New York State, New York City, and in Sydney, Australia.
