Email: John.Rivers@uvm.eduJohn Rivers is a versatile bass player who is constantly evolving as a teacher and performer. He is currently the Jazz bass instructor at the University of Vermont. John performs and records regionally with many diverse ensembles, including: Juliet McVicker Trio, Jazzismo, Dan Skea Quartet, Discover Jazz Big Band, Tom Cleary Trio, Chris Peterman Quintet . John graduated from the University of Miami, where he studied under the tutelage of Don Coffman and Vince Maggio. John has had the good fortune to perform with such talented musicians as: Karl Berger, Othello Molineux, Ray Vega, Hal Galper, Rachel Bissex, Andy Jaffe, Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Jim McNeely, John Coates, Wess Anderson, Amina Claudine Myers, Phillip Hamilton , Joe Davidian . John has traveled to many parts of the globe, including a most recent trip to Yaroslavl Russia with the Chris Peterman quintet in 2009. John feels it is a great privilege to live as a professional musician, and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with students.
