Rachael Elliott is a freelance musician who splits her time between Durham, North Carolina and Burlington, Vermont. She is the bassoonist with Clogs, a new music ensemble, and also performs with Heliand Trio, Burlington Chamber Orchestra and the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble. Rachael has taught bassoon at the University of Vermont since 2005. Those interested in bassoon lessons at UVM are invited to contact Rachael. Bassoon lessons provide a comprehensive approach to bassoon playing, from sound production and intonation, to technical development, to reedmaking. Students explore a cross-section of repertoire, from baroque through contemporary styles as well as improvised music. Students may also participate in bassoon ensemble and perform on recitals at UVM, area schools and other community venues.
Groups accompanied: Clogs, Heliand Trio, Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble
Published Works: Rachael has co-produced five albums with Clogs for Brassland Records, including their 2010 release, “The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton.” She has also contributed to the following recordings: “Night Pageantry: Music of Thomas L. Read,” published by Zimbel Records and “Alligator” and “Boxer” with The National, published by Beggars Group USA. She is currently working on her first solo bassoon CD, to be published in 2011.
