Textbook: Plant Propagation: Principles and Practices (7th ed.)
Hartmann, Kester, Davies, and Geneve, Prentice Hall, 2002
Format: Two 1.25-hour lecture periods per week
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM
One 2.25-hour laboratory period per week
Tuesdays or Thursdays, 12:45 PM – 3:15 PM
Description: In this course, we will explore the principles and practices involved in propagating
herbaceous and woody plants by seeds, division, layering, cuttings, grafting, and
tissue culture/micropropagation.
Objectives: Each student will:
1.) Become familiar with the principles of plant propagation as it applies
to commercial production
2.) Develop practical skills in the art and science of plant propagation
Assignments: Three exams = 60%
Written/oral report = 10%
Laboratory attendance/reports* = 30%
*for every day your lab or report is late, you will get a
deduction of 10% from the lab grade
Grading:
A+ = 97 - 100% A = 93 - 96% A- = 90 - 92%
B+ = 87 - 89% B = 83 - 86% B- = 80 - 82%
C+ = 77 - 79% C = 73 - 76% C- = 70 - 72%
D+ = 67 - 69% D = 63 - 66% D- = 60 - 62%
F = below 60%

There will be NO make-up assignments given in this class unless you contact me before the assignment is due. This includes quizzes, exams, and homework. I am readily available in my office, by telephone, or e-mail!
