Course Objectives:  To provide students with basic horticultural knowledge to enable them to have a better understanding of the care and use of plants in and around the home, including turf, ornamentals, vegetables and home garden fruit plants.

                       

Course format:  Lectures with supplementary demonstration materials, slides and videos.    Class meets from 12:20 - 1:10 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Grades:  Your grade for the course will be determined by 3 hour exams and 13 weekly quizzes. The hour exams will be worth 30% each for a total of 90% of your grade and the quizzes will total 10% of your final grade.  The lowest 3 quiz scores will be dropped. There will be NO make-up exams given in this class unless you contact me before the exam.  I am readily available in my office by telephone or e-mail!

                             

Policies:

Classroom conduct:

1.) Students are expected to attend and be prepared for all classes

2.) Students are expected to arrive on time and stay in class until the period ends.  If a student knows in advance that he or she will need to leave early, the instructor should be notified before the class period begins.  The student should sit in an area where he/she will least disrupt the class on exit.

3.)  All cell phones MUST be turned off before class starts.  Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
