Nicholas grew up in the small village of Wilder in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. Active in debate, theater and the math team during high school, he left the bucolic environment of Vermont and studied abroad in the city of Wuppertal, Germany for his senior year. After such an experience, he set his sights on becoming a foreign language teacher and enrolled in the secondary education program at the University of Vermont. Working for various education non-profits during summer breaks, he became interested in the field of public administration. Nicholas is currently an outreach assistant at UVM’s Transportation Research Center and recently coordinated the National Summer Transportation Institute, a two-week summer program hosted at UVM that aims to familiarize high school students with careers in transportation. In his free time he enjoys hiking, skiing, cooking, and leisure reading.
