Elaine Sopchak moved to Vermont from New Jersey in 1994 and is deeply involved in her community and local government. She has been a planning commissioner, library trustee, and chair of the library foundation. Elaine is frequently involved in nonprofit startups, including Local First Vermont, a statewide buy local initiative now operated by Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, and the Five Corners Farmers Market in Essex Junction. She is a former business owner and community volunteer. Currently Elaine works as a support staff in the Chancellor's Office of the Vermont State Colleges and she is running for a seat on the Village of Essex Junction Board of Trustees.
