____________________________________________________________________________________________ Marc T. Law is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Vermont. He is an applied microeconomist with research interests in the fields of regulation, political economy, and economic history. One strand of his research examines the role of asymmetric information about product quality in the rise of regulation in late nineteenth and early twentieth century America.
