Sandi snuggles Lorelei to sleep

Good morning!

Aaahhh... a sleeping baby is the best drug

watching a little WereRabbit

snuggling with Nana

Before Scott and Sandi left, we went to a local sugarhouse (it was open house weekend)

a piece of their giant evaporator

Elliott wants to know where the sugar on snow is

mmm... nice view

tanks from a local creamery, used to store the raw sap (they're huge)

they use a vacuum to suck the sap from the lines

a view in to the final stage of boiling

Elliott and Mike peer in

finished product splurshing out of the tube..

getting very filtered before being stored

Some sap being boiled down the old fashioned way

Hard to say which Elliott enjoyed more - the sugarhouse or the mud puddles

a view of the lines going into the sugar house, with that dairy tank sticking out (they have two that size)

impressive tire swing!

Alas, the last evidence - Jillian was here

Lorelei watches as the boys practice catching

no more raisins!

Elliott goofball tries on an 18 month pair of Lorelei's pants (that she can't squeeze into!)

Who's there?

I see you!

I love this shot

Elliott touches the water to change reflections on the ceiling

We meet Tracy and the girls at the Maple St. park

Weee!

ball!

Lorelei is psyched to rummage around in mulch and eat pine needles

Amelia's not so sure

Kira goes after the ball

Elliott regards a big class of kindergarteners who come to play at the park, then joins right in

Swinging is fun, even sitting backwards (oops)

Babe inspecting specks

mm, ummy dirt (I pulled dozens of rocks from her mouth this week)

peeking down at some temporary playmates

Weee!!! Lorelei loves the slides

We stop in Essex and actually see a real train go by! (the camera was full and I missed taking a picture of it, darn!). Elliott was very reluctant to touch or walk in the tracks

dancing

Lorelei in a cute outfit that justdoesn't become her

Sneaky girl opens all cabinets and drawers (Elliott NEVER did this)

Elliott pummels Lorelei before she wrecks his tower - ugh

basking

Basil in his safe place

still a little unsteady in the lumpy spring grass

Mmm, mud pie

want some?

No thanks, thumb is better

a crazy contraption we made

uh oh, it's not going to last long!

teething baby

our deluxe de-thatcher

balance boy

These daffodils (next to the house) are this tall

ooh, fan!

but these (in the right of the bulb garden) are much smaller

first crocuses of the year

moss, so soft

Elliott inspecting the garden. The warm sun felt so good today!

more balancing

we met Nana at Boyden Valley wine/farm for a picnic and play filled afternoon

Lorelei samples our homemade bread (hey, you can bake bread from scratch and still make it to a picnic on time when you're up at 6am!)

I'm going to sail this ship to Africa! It will take two weeks.

a very windy day - I unfortunately set up our picnic blanket downwind of the sandbox, so we had a very crunchy lunch

Lorelei samples the bread

Nana helps Lorelei negotiate her lunch

I know there's a way up here..

Elliott can't be bothered to slow down and eat. After all this silly picnic preparation and fancy picnic backpack, he ate two pieces of oranges, a baby carrot, and a bite of sandwich.

Lorelei wanders away

the girl has NO fear

a swing with a view!

Elliott becomes friends with a very nice girl who lives at the farm

Lorelei meets a horse

mm... nosehairs

our Anubias sp. flowered! ( this is a plant in our aquarium)

After bonking her head, Mike tries to cheer Lorelei up )we had used the bag as an ice pack, but she refused)

Elliott spent all day playing April Fools jokes on everyone - tying our legs together with cloth elastic and "surprising" us was his favorite

jumping on the bed is definitely allowed in this house - Elliott takes flying leaps off the top of his slide and boings all the way to the wall

Lorelei trying to figure out how to get up the slide

Oh, cat!
