It's super underwear boy! (he's 100% potty trained when naked, and we're just starting to try underpants.. so far, we've had mixed success, so his usual attire is a sweatshirt, socks and nothing else!)

We went to the Tunbridge fair with Rachel and family. Here's Elliott with a winning pumpkin

Hm, I'll have this ribbon!

oh, honey bees!

petting a cow while she's getting milked

Riding high (and staying out of trouble!)

Rachel has a turn!

Rachel's grandma looks on

he escaped!

a cow takes a snooze

Can ya just itch this spot riiiight here?

Aww, Elliott pets a nice baby cow

Hey, you wouldn't believe what I just heard..

a boy cow - yeah, I moved quickly after taking this picture!

Elliott escapes and wanders into the baby cow stalls

Moo, if only I could lick my bum!

Elliott's most memorable moment of the whole fair was watching the cows poop. He can't mention "cow" without mentioning "pooping" in the same sentence. Since the poop was bigger than his head, I guess it made quite an impression!

Nana pets a boy moo

Elliott pets one

Oh, horns!

Pointy!

some beautiful wool

maaaa...

Hey guys, there's cabbage over there!

baby piggies

Rachel wants one, aww Mom, they're only $65!!

co-sleeping wins again!

a beautiful goat

Yeah, and when my ears get a little longer, I'm going to fly outta here!

Elliott mimicks the goats with gusto

So excited!

baby chickens

Come over here!

Elliott pets one momentarily before it scoots away

Back at Grandma Nancy's house, we settle in for a little Rachel birthday party (13!). Here, Simon, her old and very sweet kittie, explores the loot

Elliott most graciously helps Rachel open her presents

Grandma Nancy and Simon

Grandpa George becomes Elliott's best buddy by sharing jelly beans with him

OOh, I'll have that one!

What are these darn matches made of, paper?! oh, yeah...

finally, success!

Elliott had a great time at the fair. Nana offered to ride down with us, which was great fun for Elliott, and fun for us too. She also was a great navigator. We left the fair around 5pm or so, and Elliott almost fell asleep in the car, but Rachel and Nana were there and we decided to keep him awake, so one of us wouldn't end up stuck out in the car watching him nap instead of visiting (we didn't have a monitor or anything). He held up relatively well at Grandma Nancy's house, but as soon as we left (around 8pm) he crashed, and slept all the way through until 9am the next morning. Amazing. In general, he can't do that very often. He really needs his naps still (thank goodness!), though sometimes they can be painfully short.

Back at home.. "if I move really slowly, she won't realize I'm up here.." - "mama, I being careful!"

Elliott loves to "beed the bith"

Elliott explores the art of hiding food

no really, I ate that yellow squash

touching some mums

touching the hydrangea

oh, spider web!

Elliott touches the web gently

Later that week, we make the first apple pie of the fall...

Ahh, flour feels so nice!

"I a good helper boy, yup, mhm!"

Apples, yum!

Helping Dad mow the lawn

hauling things around in his wheel barrow

It's finally time to give up on the pool for the season

No water coming out!

oh, water coming out!

I all wet!

a flock of wild turkeys wandered through our yard!

unfortunately, I scared them away with the camera and only got these lousy pictures. Oh well. Trust me, they were ugly. :-)
