Meet the UVM McNair Scholars

The McNair Scholars Program officially began in the spring of 2004 at the University of Vermont. A major component of the program is to provide a quality research experience to undergraduates to assist in their preparation and competitiveness for graduate study. The success of the research fellowship relies on a successful match with a faculty member on campus.

On June 1, 2009 the UVM McNair Program welcomed its sixth cohort for summer research on campus and provided technology training and orientation. To read more about the 2009 Summer Fellows, please click here.

On May 28, 2008 the McNair Program welcomed its fifth cohort and successfully launched the summer fellowship for another outstanding group of students. To read more about the 2008 Summer Scholars, please click here.

During the summer of 2007, ten summer scholars were successfully matched with faculty mentors and conducted research for ten weeks. Their findings were presented to the community on Thursday, August 9 in a symposium held in 427 Waterman on the UVM campus. To read more about the 2007 Summer Scholars, please click here.

With generous assistance from Vermont EPSCoR during the summers of 2005 and 2006, the eight-week McNair summer research internship was expanded to ten weeks. On Monday, August 14 the 2006 scholars presented their research findings to the university community in a symposium in 427 Waterman on the UVM campus. During the summer of 2004, ten McNair summer scholars were successfully matched with faculty mentors and conducted research for eight weeks.
