Objectives of the Program:

• Match undergraduate McNair Scholars with faculty mentors
• Provide undergraduate McNair Scholars with opportunities for summer research internships and academic-year research experiences
• Educate McNair Scholars in research methods and skill-building to make them competitive at the graduate level
• Provide McNair Scholars with academic advising and career counseling

Goals of the program are for McNair Scholars to:

• Complete their undergraduate studies at rates higher than comparable non-participants
• Enroll in programs of study at the graduate level at rates higher than comparable non-participants
• Earn doctorates in various disciplines, including the fields of mathematics, engineering, science, humanities, education and the social sciences

TRiO / McNair
The McNair Scholars Program is a federal Trio program funded through a grant from the US Department of Education.
