The course grade is based on 4 mid-semester exams, a compulsory cumulative final exam, and a series of laboratory explorations. The lowest mid-semester exam grade will be dropped. Neither the final exam grade nor the laboratory grade will be dropped. Exams are not curved

Exams 1-4 will be 2½ hours in the room where your section has Wednesday recitation. Exam 5 is a comprehensive Final Exam. Absence from an exam requires prior approval from the instructor. Any conflicts with an exam date or time must be resolved at least a week in advance. Exams are closed-book. No class materials may be used and no outside help may be used. Use of iPods, cellphones or CD players is not permitted in the exam room
