Elizabeth McCallion, BA
Elizabeth McCallion received her B.A. in Psychology and Religion from the University of Vermont in 2010 where she worked in the Anxiety and Health Research Lab under Dr. Michael Zvolensky researching panic disorder and smoking cessation.
In addition to her lab work, she conducted a John Dewey Honors College Thesis under the supervision of Dr. Lynne Bond and Dr. Miv London titled "Reducing experiential avoidance with a group mindfulness-based intervention at a university counseling center."
Upon graduating, Elizabeth was recognized for her scholarship by receiving the Departmental Award in both of her majors, the Outstanding Major in Religion and the George W. Albee Award for the Prevention of Psychopathology.
After graduating with Honors, Elizabeth obtained a full time Research Assistant position at the MindBody Medicine Clinic under the supervision of Dr. Magdalena Naylor studying the effects of CBT on chronic pain using fMRI.
Elizabeth is currently in the process of applying to Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programs for the Fall 2012 semester. She hopes to integrate her experiences in order to develop effective psychological interventions for health-related conditions.
Specific interests include anxiety, depression, chronic pain, cancer pain, women's health, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and spirituality in mental health.
