11.14.09: UPDATE!
I graduated from the University of Vermont in May, 2008. Please
refer to the webpage of my current documentary film project at: www.rockofgoldfilm.com
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Vermont, Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources , pursing an M.S. in Natural Resources Planning with a concentration in Environment, Society, and Public Affairs. Prior to my studies at UVM, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Fiji from 2003-2005 and recieved my B.S.E. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2002.
My current research focuses on the perception of environmental
and health risks in the mineral sector. I recently traveled to the Vatukoula Gold Mine in Fiji to conduct my research, which is
funded by the Tiffany and Co. Foundation. Check out the project website at www.fijigold.org to learn more and view an educational video about mining in Fiji. This research is
conducted in collaboration with my advisor, Dr. Saleem H. Ali, PhD. Collecting water samples in the Nasivi River, Fiji (Click for full-size)
