Hello students! We just heard that you have read a book by
Audrey Wood. Do you know who Audrey Wood
is? Do you know where she lives? Do you know what her job is? Do you know any other books she has
written? Today, you have been specially

We will explore who Audrey Wood is, and even play some fun games. Are you ready? Here we go….
When
Audrey was in fourth grade, she decided that she wanted to be an author when
she grew up. She started writing stories
all of the time. When she was in her
twenties, she published her first book, 24 Robbers. That was in 1978!
Audrey writes a lot from experiences that she had
when she was a child, when she thinks about her son, her grown-up life and her
daydreams. One of her books, The
Napping House , was written from experiences that
she had in her own house! She even
models the characters about people she knows.

Don’t they look alike?
Audrey Wood has her own studio in her house. She writes everyday because she loves it so
much. She can write anywhere and
anytime. She says that she can write, “on a bench, in my bed, on a plane, in a car, with people
around me or alone. When I need to write
I do it no matter where I am or who’s around me.”
Audrey Wood is such a great author that she has
won many awards and honors for her books.
The books that have won awards are King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub, Heckedy
Peg, Silly Sally, Elbert’s Bad Word, The Napping
House, Oh My Baby Bear, Piggies, and Weird Parents. For more information about the awards, go

than a redwood tree and stronger than fifty grizzly bears- but you may not know
that he also had a wife and two children who helped him create some of the most
