       JAN BRETT

Jan Brett was born on December 1, 1949 in Hingham Massachusetts.   Jan Brett writes her own books and also adapts and illustrates folktales.  She also does illustrations for other authors.

TO BEGIN: Step 1: Choosing a book from below, look at the links and pick a book that interests you.  Whether you like the characters, the plot, the setting, look at the options and choose one that you would enjoy.

Step 2: Go to the learning center and get the book that you have chosen to read, if it is not there then write your name on the waiting list for it, so that you can have it once someone else is done with it.

 

   

 

NOW YOU ARE READY FOR THE TASKS

 

Task 1. Now you have read the book.  Create a small book that will tell the beginning, middle, end, and main characters of the book.  Include your own illustrations.

                        Page one should be the beginning of the book.

                        Page two should be the middle part of the books.

                        Page three should be the end of the book.

                        Page four  should highlight the main characters of the book.

 

Task 2.   For this task you will  send a friend an e-mail summarizing the book you have read and what you liked the most about it.  You will send this summary in the form of a postcard, complements of Jan Brett.  Click on this address to begin,  http://www.janbrett.com/printquick/main_page.htm and pick the book of your choice. 

 

Task 3.  This task depends on which book you chose to read:

       The Gingerbread Baby:

        Your task is to look at a recipe for gingerbread cookies.  Click here for a recipe. http://www.christmas-cookies.com/recipes/recipe.phtml?recid=43.  According to this recipe, if you were to make two batches of gingerbread cookies, how many cups of flour would you need?  How many eggs would you need?
