Sins Invalid: CCP Social Justice Film Series

Time: 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Living Learning Room 216
Description: Sins Invalid (2013)
-A documentary about a performance project that celebrates artists with
disabilities, centralizing artists of color and queer and gendervariant
artists as communities who have been historically marginalized. Sins Invalid
uses the stage and performance to work towards disability justice within
the community.

LGBTQA Center's Welcome Back BBQ

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Allen House Lawn, 461 Main St.
Description: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer/Questioning, and Advocate (LGBTQA) Center at UVM would like to invite students, staff, faculty, and their families to join us at our annual Welcome Back Family BBQ on Saturday, September 7th from 1:00 to 3:00 outside of Allen House (corner of S. Prospect & Main).

Enjoy burgers, hot dogs (veggie burgers and tofu pups too!), homemade sides and main dishes, and of course our famous candy and caramel apple-making station with apples from the UVM Horticulture Farm! Come listen to great music, have fun, and connect with the LGBTQ & Ally community at UVM. This is a well-attended event and a great opportunity to meet new and old friends.

Description: Carmen’s Place / I’m Just Anneke
-Carmen’s Place and I’m Just Anneke explore the lives of transgender
youth and the struggles they endure to find a home. Carmen’s Place is an
intimate portrayal of life at a transgender friendly shelter for teenagers in
Queens, NY. I’m Just Anneke follows the life of a 12yearold
who is
exploring their gender identity with the support of parents and family.

story of Emily “Etay” Tay, a first
generation Burmese immigrant from Los Angeles, who breaks all of the
rules of tradition. After living a double life at Harvard University, she strives
to play professional basketball in Germany while coming out as a lesbian.

Description: Come have free breakfast cooked by the staff of the LGBTQA Center and have fun chatting and eating with your fellow peers and colleagues! The ALANA Student Center is located in Blundell House on Redstone Campus and is a great place to meet old and new friends!
