FILM: Families Are Forever

Description: The Vermont Chapter fo the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in partnership with the Family Acceptance Project at SFSU presents "Involving Families in LGBT Youth Suicide Prevention," featuring the film "Families Are Forever."

This free program is designed to help parents, educators, clinicians, clergy and others who interact with young people understand the critical role that families play in reducing suicide risk for
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.

The mission of LGBTQuiet is to let people know that they are not alone and they don't have to shout out their identity to the whole campus if they are not ready for that. Outing Club - LGBTQA Hike up Camel's Hump

Time: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Meet at Outing Club on Campus
Description: Join us for an OCLGBTQA hike up Camel’s Hump! (A collaboration between UVM’s Outing Club and the LGBTQA Center).

There is a cost of $15. This covers a ride to Camel’s Hump, breakfast, lunch, and all gear that you may need (boots, backpacks, rain gear, etc.).

Please go to the Outing Club to pay and sign-up ASAP! The Outing Club has the official sign-up.

Limited need based financial assistance available to students. Email rswem@uvm.edu for more info!

LGBTQ Student Services in Higher Education; Day-long Institute

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: UVM, Davis Center
Description: Higher education professionals and administrators, as well as Student Affairs graduate students seeking to increase skills and knowledge, and to better serve LGBTQ campus communities, are encouraged to attend this day-long institute of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals.

The Institute is an excellent opportunity to partake in low-cost professional development and to network with many consultants, high-impact practitioners, and colleagues from across the spectrum of higher education LGBTQ resources.

LGBTQA Center's Welcome Back BBQ

Location: Allen House Lawn, 461 Main St.
Description: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer/Questioning, and Advocate (LGBTQA) Center at UVM would like to invite students, staff, faculty, and their families to join us at our annual Welcome Back Family BBQ on Saturday, September 7th from 1:00 to 3:00 outside of Allen House (corner of S. Prospect & Main).

Enjoy burgers, hot dogs (veggie burgers and tofu pups too!), homemade sides and main dishes, and of course our famous candy and caramel apple-making station with apples from the UVM Horticulture Farm! Come listen to great music, have fun, and connect with the LGBTQ & Ally community at UVM. This is a well-attended event and a great opportunity to meet new and old friends.
