- Vermont Students - Find out About Talented High School Program
Date: July 25 - August 7, 2009
First day is arrival day -- check in between 3 and 5 p.m.
Last day is departure day -- leave between 9 and 11 a.m.
This two week intensive program is designed to prepare students for competition in the World Schools debating format, used for the World Schools Debating Championship, the world title for high school debate, and also by more and more schools and countries. Over 35 countries are currently debating in this format.
The format combines debating on prepared topics with preparing extemporaneously. Three person teams debate each other in a rigorous fashion that focuses on the heart of issues, not the periphery.
Students from all over the world are welcome! Last year students from six nations attended.
Faculty will be selected from the top tier of debate trainers internationally, including trainers from Team USA, other international teams along with leading authors of major debate textbooks.
Learn to debate like the world champions do!
Special Features!
Special research sessions will be conducted on the prepared topics the same way as WSDC preparation takes place, using the latest online databases and libraries.
The workshop will feature an intensive three-day tournament at its end so that students can begin to understand the challenges of attending the World Schools Debate Championship.
