Welcome to OLLI!

Osher Summer Institute ParticipantsAre you interested in enriching your life by learning in a fun and stimulating environment?  Then I invite you to join your fellow Vermonters who are already members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in one of the eight Osher Institute sites throughout Vermont. Over 500 Vermonters already attend Osher Institutes each year and the number continues to grow.

OLLI, as the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of Vermont is often referred to, was established in 2002 as a way to bring affordable learning opportunities to mature residents of Vermont communities.  It’s a wonderful way to stay mentally engaged and be part of a growing number of adults who appreciate the value of learning, without tests, papers or grades.  Our OLLI is one of 115 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, located at universities throughout the country, that were established through funding from the Osher Foundation. You can read more about the wonderful philanthropy of the Osher Foundation on our web site.

Each of our Vermont OLLIs is organized by a local volunteer steering committee that plans a diverse array of programs each semester.  They value the rewarding volunteer opportunity that OLLI provides and enjoy working as a team to make their OLLI a success.  New OLLI volunteers are always welcome and can participate in a variety of roles such as program planning, publicity and hospitality.

Over 80 programs are offered throughout the state each semester, providing a rich array of programming. Affordable membership dues make joining OLLI accessible and we want to keep it that way. OLLI’s future is dependent on members returning each semester and spreading the word to their friends and neighbors. OLLI also welcomes the support of community sponsors to help offset the cost of bringing OLLI programs to you.

If you’re not already an OLLI member, please join the many Vermonters who love to learn just for the joy of it.

Sincerely,

Deborah Worthely
